What Is Church?

(updated 5/14/2010)

The Church is the worldwide ‘family of families’, it is the people of God.

“The word Church refers to the people who God calls and gathers from every part of the earth.

Through faith and Baptism people become children of God, members of Christ, and temples of the Holy Spirit (1).

What is the mission of the Church?

The mission of the Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ (1). This mission involves planting the seed of faith into the hearts and minds of others. We then cultivate and nurture this faith so that it will produce fruits of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22-23).

The Church

Jesus wants to bring all people into His Church, so there will be “one fold and one Shepherd.”  God did not create us to be alone and isolated amongst ourselves.  He created us so that we could all be one people united by the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (1).
